What is a notary public? A notary public is an individual legally authorized to administer oaths, witness and authenticate documents. A notary public simply watches you sign the document (in their presence), checks your identification and then signs and stamps the document with an official seal, certifying that they have witnessed your signature and verified your identification. Notary public service ranges from $2.00 and up, depending on the document that needs notarized.
